MUSCAT: The Oman Golf Trophy (OGT), an international initiative aimed at strengthening Oman's diplomatic, business, and cultural ties through the power of sport, returns for its second edition, culminating in grand finale — a true hole-in-one event — at the renowned Al Mouj Golf this December. Following the success of its inaugural event in Italy, the 2024 OGT has expanded to seven global markets from Austria, Germany, Italy, France, Japan, South Africa and India bringing the excitement of this unique tournament to new audiences and building anticipation for the final rounds in Oman.


Diplomats, business leaders, media personalities, and VIP guests from each of the seven participating nations have engaged in qualifier tournaments since April 2024, underscoring OGT’s international appeal. With standout 7,400 participation in and many VIP guests.


Nasser al Shaibani, CEO of Al Mouj Muscat, said, "Our vision is to position Oman as a leading destination for international sporting events, tourism, and investment. The Oman Golf Trophy embodies our country’s unique blend of tradition and modernity, offering an unforgettable experience for participants while fostering global connections through sport. We look forward to seeing the world converge on our greens." More than 46 winners and over 28 VIP guests will soon travel to Oman for the highly anticipated final rounds, scheduled from December 8 to 12. The competition will begin at La Vie Golf Club and Ghala Golf Club, leading to the grand finale at Al Mouj Golf on December 12, where participants experience the spirit of play on a world top 100 courses, complemented by Oman’s renowned hospitality.


The OGT is more than just a golf tournament; it is a unique sports initiative connecting Oman with international stakeholders through golf. By bringing together participants from diverse backgrounds — including business, diplomacy, and media — the event enhances opportunities for meaningful connections and networking. It's a stroke of genius that not only elevates Oman's status as a top destination for tourism and investment but also reinforces its commitment to fostering international relationships.


The final rounds in Oman will showcase the country's premier golf destinations and hospitality, further increasing awareness of Oman as a top destination for tourism, investment, and international sporting events. The OGT plays a pivotal role in strengthening Oman's diplomatic ties and business connections with global partners, hitting the sweet spot between sport and international relations.
