Oman has long supported Palestine, maintaining a consistent stance on the Palestinian issue. The relationship between Oman and Palestine is rooted in shared religion, values, history, and a deep sense of solidarity. Oman advocates for the rights of the Palestinian people and a peaceful resolution to the ongoing conflict, extending its efforts to promote peace and stability in the Middle East and worldwide.
For the sake of Gaza, residents of the village of Aqdaa in the Wilayat of Dima W’attayeen, Al Sharqiyah North Governorate, recently organised a charity event to support those affected in Gaza. The “Women’s Charity Dish” event took place on the main road leading to the wilayat centre, Mahlah, with broad participation from women in the community. It aimed to collect donations to support the humanitarian cause in Gaza.
The organising committee expressed its gratitude to everyone who contributed to the event’s success, noting that all proceeds would be directed towards supporting those affected in Gaza. This gesture aims to strengthen human solidarity and emphasise Oman’s support for its brothers and sisters enduring difficult circumstances.
Yahya bin Ali al Battashi, a member of the organising committee, stated that this initiative is a message to the people of Gaza that Oman stands with them, especially in these challenging times. “Our hearts and prayers are with our brothers and sisters in Gaza, no matter the distance. It is our duty to continue supporting them by all possible means.”
The women of Aqdaa village prepared an array of dishes, including popular Omani foods that reflect the rich heritage of the region. The event saw a large turnout from residents of the Wilayat of Dima W’attayeen, who were eager to purchase the dishes, with proceeds from sales going directly to support the people of Gaza.
The Women's Charity Dish event brought the community together, allowing them to purchase homemade dishes while expressing goodwill and support for the people of Gaza. The menu featured well-loved Omani dishes such as Oman’s special bread, harees (a dish made from wheat and meat), arsiyah (a dish made with rice and meat), thareed (a layered mix of bread, meat, vegetables, and spices), and other dishes that showcase Oman’s rich culinary heritage. Through these shared dishes, the event embodied the values of compassion and unity for Gaza’s people.
Sultan bin Mohammed al Maamari, a local resident, highlighted the importance of children’s involvement in such events. “The Women’s Charity Dish event instils principles in children such as empathy, justice, and helping those in need, especially the people of Gaza. It develops in children a deeper understanding of humanity and the belief that all people have the right to live in peace and harmony,” he said.
This humanitarian initiative reflects the spirit of solidarity demonstrated by Aqdaa village in the Wilayat of Dima W’attayeen, strengthening humanitarian ties and embodying the sense of brotherhood between the Omani and Palestinian people.
