Bidiya - The Bidiya Car Challenge Carnival will start on Wednesday in North Al Sharqiyah Governorate as part of the winter desert sports activities coinciding with the celebrations of the 54th National Day.
The championship will continue for three days with participation from driving enthusiasts from the Sultanate of Oman and the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) countries, in addition to amateurs and motorsports enthusiasts.
The event is expected to witness a large audience presence that will contribute to enhancing the economic and tourism movement in the region during the winter tourism season.
This edition is one of the largest in the Sultanate of Oman in terms of the number of participants and the size of the prizes, as seven cars have been allocated to the winners of first place in each category, in addition to cash prizes of up to RO15,000 for the winners of second and third place.
The competition includes seven categories: 6-cylinder and 8-cylinder unmodified, 6-cylinder and 8-cylinder modified, in addition to the “backfire” and “burnfire” categories, an open category.
Preparations have been made to ensure the success of the championship, as the racetrack is being prepared. The event includes an exhibition, and car and bike shows.
As part of safety procedures, the open category requires the use of specific engines without violations.
