MUSCAT: Professional wrestling is coming to the Sultanate of Oman for the first time as WrestleFest DXB announced its historic debut in Muscat on November 22. The Oman Automobile Association’s Thy Yard Pitstop will stage the event on Friday.
This landmark event marks the first time a Middle Eastern wrestling promotion has ventured beyond its home country, solidifying its position as a trailblazer in the region.
The promotion is committed to nurturing and showcasing homegrown talent, providing a platform for aspiring wrestlers in the Middle East to reach new heights. WrestleFest DXB brings high-flying action, intense matches, and jaw-dropping moments to the heart of Oman.
The programme for this event includes impressive performances and an atmosphere worthy of Thy Yard in Oman! Fans can look forward to discovering—or rediscovering—wrestlers such as Shaheen, Sam, Oman’s own first pro wrestler Anas Rex, Fayez, Johnny Evers, Kuya Burn, Alireza, Cryptid, Roxxy, Jay Lamrod, Zephyr, and Ramsey in the ring.
Tickets are available on the Virgin Megastore website.
Local professional wrestler Anas al Riyami, known as Anas Rex in the pro circuit, is thrilled to perform in front of his home crowd.
“I’m beyond excited for the debut of the first professional wrestling show in Oman. This event is a dream come true, a moment I’ve been working toward for years. To be able to step into the ring in front of my home crowd and perform for my family is an indescribable honour. It’s a chance to bring the energy, passion, and love I have for wrestling to the people who mean the most to me and to show them what this journey has been all about. I can’t wait to share this historic moment with everyone on Friday, November 22, and make history that will last a lifetime.”
The young wrestler hopes this event will spark growth for the sport in Oman.
“This event has the potential to be the catalyst for wrestling’s growth in Oman, creating a foundation of excitement and community support for the sport. By bringing a professional wrestling show to the local stage, fans who have only experienced it on screens will finally get to feel the intensity and atmosphere of a live event. This first show will introduce wrestling to a wider audience, showcasing its athleticism, storytelling, and entertainment value, which will likely inspire a passionate fan base and even encourage local talent to explore the sport.”
“The show will also highlight Oman as a place capable of hosting dynamic events, potentially drawing regional interest and paving the way for more shows, training programmes, and a lasting wrestling community in the country,” he added.
