MUSCAT: A 'Wellness Walk' will be organised from Salalah to Mughsail on National Day holiday on Wednesday for health awareness. The walk will be led by Ishwar Deshmukh, a professional walker and physical education teacher from Indian School Salalah who has served as Head- Physical Education Department in reputed schools in India and Gulf countries for more than two decades. Early registrants can also participate in part or throughout this walk.
The 54 km walk will be organised by Fas Sports and Lifeline Hospital on Oman's 54th National Day. The walk will be flagged off from the premises of Lifeline Hospital in Hamdan building, at 4 am early morning on Wednesday, November 20, the national holiday. The walk will take about seven hours to reach Mughsail at 11 o'clock.
Those who are interested can start either from Lifeline to Raysut or join at Mughsail Beach or from the middle of the path. Anyone living in Salalah can participate in this walk by pre-registering via Google Forms. Interested may contact on +968 9783555 for further details. T-shirts and necessary drinks will be provided for the participants. The concerned ministries have informed that they would provide their full cooperation for the walk.
Last February, Ishwar Deshmukh, had walked 28.02 km from Salalah to Taqah in 3 hours 54 minutes and 57 seconds. He said that all people should be involved in this effort for health awareness.
Fas Director Jamshad Ali and Lifeline Operations Manager Abdul Rasheed participated in the meeting to plan and organise the Walkathon.
