OPAZ showcases institutional progress at World Quality Week

The Public Authority for Special Economic Zones and Free Zones (OPAZ) showcased innovative operational processes and services at an event held in collaboration with the Oman Vision 2040 Implementation Follow-up Unit on the occasion of World Quality Week. Themed “Quality from Compliance to Outstanding Performance,” the event was attended by Eng. Ahmed bin Hassan al Dheeb, Deputy Chairman of OPAZ, along with officials, private sector representatives, and quality enthusiasts.


Speaking to Oman TV, Eng Al Dheeb said, “We are pleased to participate today in World Quality Week, organised by the Public Authority for Special Economic Zones and Free Zones. From its inception, the Authority has focused on the principles of quality and innovation, which form one of its six core pillars. One of these pillars is institutional excellence. Institutional excellence within the Authority involves creating an environment, culture, planning and unique programs to make our economic, industrial, special and free zones attractive destinations for local and foreign investments.”


Saleh al Hasani, Advisor to the OPAZ Chairman, delivered a presentation on current and completed projects within OPAZ. Speaking to the Observer, he noted, “My participation was focused on showcasing the OPAZ strategy, particularly emphasising the six key pillars central to our objectives, especially during this gathering.”


The event included presentations by Haitham al Rawas, a member of OPAZ's transformation team, who highlighted the transformation programme and organizational excellence.


Earlier, four key themes were highlighted, showcasing experiences in quality and institutional excellence, digital platforms that enhance performance and support innovation, workplace innovation, and the National Equal Opportunities initiative.


In the first theme, the Oman Vision 2040 Implementation Follow-up Unit presented guidance on quality and institutional innovation, while OPAZ highlighted its Institutional Transformation Programme. Esnad Integrated Services discussed the value of ISO certifications, and SOHAR Port and Freezone shared outcomes from ISO 55001 asset management implementation.


The second theme, 'Digital Platforms Enhancing Performance and Supporting Innovation,' featured OPAZ's digital platforms, including OMAP and the electronic land selection service, which simplify investment planning in economic zones. Eltizam platform was introduced for standards compliance, and SOHAR Port and Freezone showcased technologies in asset management and smart lighting. Madayn presented its Dorbah e-platform for workforce training in industrial cities.


In the third theme, 'Innovation in the Workplace,' OPAZ highlighted initiatives like Jisr and Short Dialogues to boost workplace efficiency, with SOHAR Port and Freezone also sharing its management practices.


In the fourth theme, OPAZ discussed its 'National Equal Opportunities' initiative supporting Omani SMEs. Arkan Agriculture Research, Development and Innovation Company presented its agricultural sector services, while Ibn Firnas Drone Center showcased its drone applications in various sectors. Through these events, the Public Authority for Special Economic Zones and Free Zones aims to foster a culture of quality and innovation within the business environment, maintaining a high level of excellence that reflects a commitment to enhancing institutional efficiency and sustaining performance.
