Muscat: After eight days, the Oman Science Festival concluded its diverse scientific activities in its fourth edition under the slogan 'Our Sustainable Resources', with a large public turnout.
The festival, through its diverse activities, contributed to developing students' knowledge, and aimed to deliver science to students and members of society through easy means and interactive methods that stimulate creative thinking, and provide positive trends towards science, innovation and scientific research.
It witnessed a large turnout of visitors from different segments of society and those interested in various scientific fields, as the festival presented more than 500 diverse scientific activities that displayed a number of scientific concepts, competitions and scientific courses, and technological devices and applications in an attractive and enjoyable way for students, teachers and members of society alike.
As has been mentioned through Dr Abdullah bin Khamis Ambusaidi, Under-Secretary of the Ministry of Education for Education, that the festival is an exceptional scientific event that reflects the directions and priorities of Oman Vision 2040, which calls for the importance of creating comprehensive education and sustainable learning that contribute to developing innovation and building a knowledge economy.
The festival is a mechanism to encourage students to realise the importance of science in life and urge them to innovate and continue learning in scientific specialisations, to keep pace with global trends based on spreading science and technology and expected future changes and developments, and to enhance their skills to integrate into the knowledge-based economy.
The organisers and participants praised the festival, stressing that it opened up broad horizons for visitors and those interested in scientific fields. The festival provided visitors with a unique opportunity to explore the latest developments in the fields of science, technology and artificial intelligence, and included many events that demonstrated the great progress achieved by the Sultanate of Oman in the scientific and technical fields.
The festival reflected the opportunity to increase scientific knowledge and learn about the latest modern technologies in resource sustainability, and the large turnout of visitors to the festival demonstrated the great interest in science in its various fields. With this interest, the festival achieved its goals by spreading knowledge, science, educational programs and modern technology and conveying the concept of sustainable resources and their importance.
The fourth edition of the festival complements the successes of previous editions organised by the Ministry of Education (MoE), with the aim of delivering science to students and community members follow up with global trends for enhancing skills to integrate into the knowledge-based economy.
