MUSCAT: OQ Group’s Internal Audit Department recently held a workshop titled "Leadership with Control," emphasizing the importance of control, governance, and compliance within the workplace. The workshop, attended by 220 officials from regulatory authorities and OQ companies, aimed to equip leaders with effective tools to support OQ’s growth while enhancing transparency and accountability.
Abdulrahman al Harthy, CEO of Internal Audit at OQ, highlighted that the workshop underscored the importance of robust internal controls and adapting to technical advancements in control and governance.
OQ Group CEO Ashraf al Maamari reinforced this, noting that a strong focus on compliance and control not only benefits OQ but also strengthens relationships with external stakeholders.
The workshop centered on three main areas: compliance-related controls, operational controls, and technical oversight. Key discussions included integrating ESG standards, assessing OQ's control environment maturity, and operational oversight to enhance efficiency and risk management. Digital transformation in control management was also a focal point, emphasizing benefits like streamlined operations and minimized human error. Additionally, cybersecurity strategies were discussed to protect OQ’s digital assets and infrastructure from potential threats.
The event aimed to foster a culture of governance and responsibility, aligning leadership to support sustainable growth through an effective control environment.
