The International Annual Anti-Fraud Forum 2024, organized by the Association of Certified Fraud Examiners (ACFE) Oman Chapter is to be held at the Sheraton Hotel Ruwi in Muscat, on November 13.
The theme, "The New Era – AI-Powered Financial Fraud", highlights the pivotal role of artificial intelligence in combating financial crime and creating a more transparent and secure financial ecosystem.
The forum will be graced by Abdul Salaam Al Murshidi, President of the Oman Investment Authority, as the Chief Guest, Nasser Khamis Al Jashmi, Chairman, of Oman Tax Authority, Abdullah Salim Al Salmi, President, of Financial Service Authority Guest of Honors.
T N Manoharan, a distinguished chartered accountant and former President of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of India (ICAI) is the keynote speaker. In 2010, he was awarded the Padma Shri, one of India's highest civilian honors, for his outstanding services in the field of accountancy.
The event aims to bring together over 350 experts, government representatives, and industry leaders from across Oman and internationally to address emerging fraud challenges and opportunities for prevention in the digital era.
The Anti-Fraud Forum is an integral part of International Fraud Awareness Week, a global movement that aims to shine a spotlight on the seriousness of financial fraud and promote proactive fraud prevention strategies. Organized under the sponsorship of the College of Banking and Financial Studies (CBFS), the ACFE Oman Chapter is committed to promoting best practices in fraud detection and prevention across the Sultanate of Oman.
The event agenda will look into ‘Ethics in Governance’ led by CA T N Manoharan, ‘The Psychology of Fraud in the Digital Era’, presented by Dr. Hamed Al Sinawi, Sultan Qaboos University Hospital, ‘Generative AI Fraud (Deepfake) Prevention and Detection,’ by Mr. Rohit Bajpai, Vice President Internal Audit, Gulf Islamic Investments and FinTech Cybersecurity Trends and the Role of Analytics in Fraud Detection.
The forum will also include a panel discussion on the impact of artificial intelligence on financial fraud detection, featuring thought leaders from various sectors, including technology, finance, and governance.
Khalil Nabhan al Rawahi, President of the ACFE Oman Chapter, emphasized the importance of collaboration in the fight against fraud, "The active participation of government entities, private sector organizations, and experts from across the Sultanate of Oman and the world plays a crucial role in making International Fraud Awareness Week an effective tool for raising anti-fraud awareness. As we navigate a rapidly changing financial landscape, it is essential that we come together as a community to tackle fraud with innovative solutions. This forum represents our commitment to a safer and more resilient financial future for Oman and beyond."
