The ongoing Oman Science Festival (OSF) is highlighting the need to use/invest money wisely and promote savings through many pavilions on financial resources set by the Central Bank of Oman, Consumer Protection Authority (CPA) and Sohar International.
These pavilions provide visitors with the opportunity to learn about financial well-being and how to enhance it and its importance in the life of the individual, and will learn how to manage financial affairs, which include budgeting, saving, investing and planning.
Al Amal School for the Deaf offers lessons in entrepreneurship by demonstrating the process of making perfumes and incense, starting from mixing, measuring the required quantity in moulds and adding aromatic scents, and then packaging the products to be marketed.
Abdullah al Shakhsi, from the Innovation Department at the Ministry of Education and supervisor of “Our Financial Resources” corner, said: “Al Amal School for the Deaf is an effective element in our financial resources pavilion.”
The visitors also get to know about concepts of investment in virtual reality games.
“The CPA’s participation is a continuation of its programmes to spread knowledge about consumer rights. It includes digital games to enhance consumer awareness, VR technology to identify counterfeit goods and explain the danger that they pose to society” Samia al Ghaithi, Head of the Counterfeit Goods Exhibition Department of CPA, said.
The authority's participation also includes a virtual grocery store where young consumers learn about shopping steps. It is worth noting that the Authority's participation comes to enhance its partnership between various governmental and private bodies and institutions to spread scientific culture.
The Oman Science Festival is a great platform to spread financial culture, through interactive activities and educational programmes that enrich knowledge and enhance skills in financial management, which contribute to foster sustainable economic development in Oman.
