Muscat: The Oman national women’s 3x3 basketball team has concluded its training camp held in Dammam from November 3 to 6, in preparation for participating in the NEOM Championship in Saudi Arabia, scheduled for November 7-8. Teams from GCC countries, including Muscat, Doha, Manama, Riyadh, Jeddah and Kuwait will participate in the tournament.

The team is led by Hiba bint Said al Naabiyah, a member of the Oman Basketball Association Board and Chair of the Basketball Sports Committee. This participation is part of the collaboration between the Oman Basketball Association, the Women’s Sports Department at the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Youth (MoCSY), and the Women’s Committee and Gender Equality in the Oman Olympic Committee.

The four-day camp featured intensive training sessions under the leadership of Tunisian coach Wafaa Zaghdaoud. The team members, Shams Al Duha al Khanji, Rabi al Kalbani, Noor al Kharousi, and Ghadeer al Ismaili took part in the drills. During the camp, the team played three friendly matches against the Saudi team, providing the coach with opportunities to correct errors and refine the team’s performance ahead of the competition.

The Muscat team will compete in Group A, alongside 'Al Zallaj' from Bahrain and Doha from Qatar, while Group B includes teams from Riyadh, Kuwait and Jeddah.

The goal of the women’s 3x3 basketball team’s participation is to promote women’s sports in Oman, empower Omani women to compete in GCC championships, provide a supportive environment for fair competition, and showcase their talents, fostering pride and a sense of belonging to the nation.
