Muscat: The Mobile Planetarium, organised by Petroleum Development Oman at Oman Science Festival, takes visitors on a trip to discover the planets.
Advanced Cyber Security Academy, Oman National CERT, University of Technology and Applied Sciences, Global College of Engineering and Technology, Insight Information Security, Ministry of Education, represented by Department of Electronic Information Security, Knowledge Masterpiece International private School and Tatweer Cyber Security also organised various activities that aim to spread cyber awareness and help manage digital risks.
The Carbon Neutrality section is organised by Al Khaboura Vocational College, Climate Fresk Oman, Sultan Qaboos University, Oil and Gas Research Centre, Global College of Engineering and Technology, Sultan Qaboos University, Centre of Environmental Studies and Research, Million Plastic Caps, University of Technology and Applied Sciences in Muscat and Al Rustaq. The activities inform people the importance to reach sustainable living by reducing carbon emissions, recycling waste materials, air pollution measurement and protecting solar cells.
The Ibn Omaira Theatre’s programme included a number of activities among which a scientific competition “Knowledge Fields” carried out by the Social Responsibility Department at Occidental Oman. The Directorate-General for Medical Supply at the Ministry of Health gave interactive presentations titled “Medical Interventions: Medication Journey in the Body”, whereas the National Centre for Paediatrics performed a play on diabetic children’s challenges to raise awareness among the festival’s visitors.
The Ministry of Education honoured the top performing students in the Knowledge Development Programme 2023/2024, under the auspices of Dr Saif bin Abdullah al Haddabi, Under-Secretary of the Ministry of Higher Education, Research and Innovation for Research and Innovation (MoHERI), at the Oman Convention and Exhibition Centre.
The honouring ceremony began with the Ministry of Education’s speech delivered by Dr Maya al Azri, Adviser to the MoHERI and Acting Director of Scientific Innovation and Olympiad Department. “The Ministry of Education seeks to greatly enhance the innovation system in school education in line with the national visions that focus primarily on creating human resources with competitive capabilities and contributing to driving the wheel of economic development.”
On behalf of students, Fay al Mahrouqi delivered speech in which she said: “We are proud to be standing here today after continuous efforts and endless support from the Ministry of Education to provide us with appropriate environment for excellence and creativity. Having this honouring ceremony amidst Oman Science Festival is a step through which the ministry seeks to develop students’ skills and knowledge, and to provide them with modern technologies in preparation for the future.”
