MUSCAT: The Sultanate of Oman, represented by OQ group, the global integrated energy company, is hosting the 18th annual Gulf Petrochemicals and Chemicals Association (GPCA) Forum from December 2 to 5.

As Ashraf bin Hamed al Maamari, Group CEO of OQ, noted, “We are delighted to host the 18th Gulf Petrochemicals and Chemicals Association Forum for the first time in Oman. This exceptional event brings together distinguished energy ministers from the region, CEOs of petrochemical companies, and a select group of global speakers to discuss and promote opportunities for growth, integration, and a sustainable future for the sector.”

In remarks to the Observer, Mustafa al Balushi, Vice-President of People & Culture at OQ, emphasised the importance of hosting the GPCA Forum in Oman, stating, “At OQ Group, we place great emphasis on conferences and exhibitions, actively working to strengthen our presence in this field. The choice to host the forum in Oman was strategic, drawing on our two decades of experience in the petrochemical sector. This move aligns with our commitment to support and promote growth within the sector.”

Al Balushi explained that OQ, in collaboration with the Ministry of Energy and Minerals (MoEM) and the Oman Investment Authority, obtained official approval to host the forum in Oman in the latter half of last year. He highlighted the critical role of extensive logistical, infrastructure, and data preparations in securing the endorsement of forum members and participants, adding, “With support from partners such as the Omran Group, we’ve made plans to organise the forum to reflect the Sultanate of Oman’s esteemed reputation.”

OQ Group leads various industrial projects in Oman, following an integrated approach across its operations—from exploration and production to refining, petrochemicals, polymers and alternative energy. This strategy strengthens its global presence and enhances competitiveness, supporting the development of Oman’s industrial sector and advancing petrochemical-based industries, which play a key role in the country’s economic diversification efforts.

Oman's hosting of the GPCA Forum not only strengthens its role as a hub for petrochemical innovation but also signals a deepened commitment to collaboration and strategic growth in the industry across the GCC region.
