Muscat: Muscat Municipality has reminded the public about the harmful effects of setting fires in parks and under trees, warning that such practices not only harm the natural environment but also pose serious risks to public health.
According to the Municipality, setting fires in green areas can distort landscapes, and damage vital vegetation.
Beyond the visible damage, fires in public spaces also contribute to air pollution, releasing smoke and harmful gases that degrade air quality.
In an online statement, the municipality reiterated that the spread of smoke and odours from activities such as barbecues may affect public health, especially for those with respiratory conditions.
Officials urge the public to consider the impact of these activities on the environment and the community, emphasising the importance of preserving Oman’s natural spaces for future generations. The move is part of a wider effort to maintain the beauty of public spaces and ensure they remain safe and enjoyable for all residents and visitors.
