Muscat: The National Net Zero Program launched a new package of projects and initiatives called 'Net 3' in Muscat on Monday, aimed at achieving the 2030 targets within the strategy for an orderly transition to Net Zero.
The event was held under the patronage of Dr. Khamis bin Saif al Jabri, Head of the Vision 2040 Implementation Follow-up Unit.
Dr. Abdullah al Amri, chairman of the Environment Authority (EA), stated that the launch of the 'Net 3' package is part of efforts to expand net-zero projects, aiming to meet Oman’s ambitious climate targets.
The event included visual presentations showcasing the progress and achievements of the National Net Zero Program.
Dr. Maryam al Busaidi, Head of the National Net Zero Program, delivered a speech highlighting the stages of the program, current projects, and initiatives, along with the key sectors, opportunities, and enablers.
She also emphasized the adoption of the National Strategy for an Orderly Transition to Net Zero under the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change.
The ceremony further marked the official announcement of the "Hayad 3" projects and initiatives, with final approvals and signings.
The National Net Zero Program continues to monitor the implementation of projects aimed at reducing carbon emissions, focusing on achieving reduction targets by 2030, 2040, and 2050 through both main and supporting sectors that contribute to these efforts, ultimately aiming to reach Oman's national net zero goal by 2050.
