The international qualifying endurance race concluded on Saturday with 105 horses competing over distances of 120 km and 100 km at Al Mahamid Endurance Village in the Wilayat of Barka. The race was organised by the Oman Equestrian and Racing Federation (OERF) and supervised by the International Equestrian Federation.
In total, 67 horses qualified across various races. Four horses qualified over a distance of 120 km out of five competitors, 27 horses completed 100 km out of 38 entries, 13 riders succeeded over an 80 km course among 80 participants, and 23 horses completed the 40 km race out of 32 entries.
The international 120 km race comprised four stages: the first stage (white) covered 40 km, the second and third stages (yellow) each covered 30 km, and the fourth stage (blue) covered 20 km. The required heart rate was 64 beats per minute, and the minimum speed was set at 14 km/h.
The 100 km race included three stages: 40 km (white), followed by two 30 km (yellow) stages. The heart rate requirement was also 64 bpm, with a speed limit of 14 km/h.
The 80 km race had two stages, both covering 40 km (white), while the 40 km race comprised one stage. The heart rate requirement for both the 100 km and 80 km races was set at 56 bpm, with a maximum speed of 16 km/h and a minimum speed of 14 km/h.
Show Jumping Competitions
In parallel, the federation concluded its show jumping competitions at the Olympic field in Barka, featuring 108 horses across six categories.
In the 130 cm height category, Madin al Yousfi from the Royal Cavalry claimed first place. Jamal al Sharyani from the Royal Guard of Oman won the 120 cm height category. Bassam al Ghabshi from ROP triumphed in the 110 cm category, competing against 18 participants.
In the 100 cm category, with 14 horses competing, Rashid al Mashaykhi from ROP emerged as the champion. Madin al Yousfi, also from the Royal Cavalry, secured first place in the 90 cm height category for the second time, competing against 28 entries.
In the beginners’ category, set at 70 cm, 15 out of 36 riders successfully completed the round.
