MUSCAT, NOV 3
A conference highlighting the role of artificial intelligence within marketing was held here last week under the auspices of Dr Salim Sultan al Ruzaiqi, Member of the State Council, who is also Chairman of Oman Information Technology Society (OITS).
The one-day conference was organised by marketing and communication consultancy Code 30 Strategies in collaboration with the Oman Information Technology Society (OITS).
Speaking to the Observer, Christine Karan, Founder of Code 30 Strategies, shed light on the size of the AI market: “According to Global Newswire, the global AI market size is expected to grow from $86.9 billion in 2022 to $407 billion by 2027. This projection highlights the power of AI, especially as global spending on AI systems has surged. For example, AI spending reached $97.9 billion in 2023, reflecting a 44% growth compared to 2021. This increase emphasises the significant rise in global AI investments.”
Karan added: “Additionally, 80% of market leaders believe AI will revolutionise both the marketing field and overall business operations. By 2030, AI could contribute up to $15.7 trillion to the global economy.
Furthermore, by 2025, it's expected that 95% of customer interactions will be powered by AI.” The expert also highlighted the role that AI plays in marketing. “It’s essential for marketers to understand AI tools because, as a digital marketer myself, I’ve seen the shift from traditional marketing to AI-driven marketing. This shift represents the next step in the industry.”
“While AI has existed for some time, the spotlight has recently intensified, thanks largely to tools like ChatGPT, which have made AI utilization more accessible. AI now plays a crucial role in content creation, imagery, video production, and more—all at a fraction of previous costs. It’s essential because AI reduces time, increases efficiency, and represents the future of marketing,” she further stated.
The conference included keynote speeches by Hassan al Lawati, National Programme Head for Artificial Intelligence & Advanced Techs at the Ministry of Transport, Communication & Information Technology, showcasing Oman’s National AI programme. Dr Jassim Haji, President of the International Group of Artificial Intelligence and President of the Artificial Intelligence Society in Bahrain, highlighting the use of AI within marketing.
The conference also featured a panel discussion showcasing various young Omani entrepreneurs discussing opportunities within AI adoption, followed by a workshop about the use of AI within the field led by Linda Hui Issac, Founder of marketing agency Crown Mercado Alliance and Faculty member of Singapore Management University.
