MUSCAT: The Sultanate of Oman, represented by the Ministry of Social Development, will host a symposium entitled 'Implementing the Arab Strategy for the Elderly: Between Possibilities and Challenges' on November 6, Wednesday.
The symposium is being held with the aim of following up on the social and political dimensions of implementing the Arab Strategy for the Elderly.
This strategy was issued by the 30th Arab Summit, and the two-day symposium will be attended by approximately 200 participants interested in and working in the elderly sector from governmental, civil and private institutions from the Sultanate of Oman, and senior officials and experts specialising in the field of the elderly from Arab countries.
The symposium aims to follow up on the social and political dimensions of implementing the strategy, discuss the care and protection services provided to the elderly, identify the challenges facing the implementation of this strategy and the mechanism for benefiting from the capabilities.
It has been organised by the Ministry of Social Development in partnership with the League of Arab States, the Ministry of Health, the Social Protection Fund, the Ihsan Association, the Omani Social Workers Association, the Omani Association for Elderly Health, the Omani Alzheimer’s Association, and a number of private sector institutions.
