Muscat: His Highness Sayyid Theyazin bin Haitham al Said, Minister of Culture, Sports, and Youth, will officially open the annual meeting of the International Forum of Sovereign Wealth Funds (IFSWF) on Tuesday, which will bring together more than 50 heads and members of sovereign wealth funds from 46 countries.
This year’s meeting is set to be the largest since the forum’s inception in 2009, featuring prominent speakers from around the globe. Among them is tech visionary Elon Musk, CEO of SpaceX and Tesla, who will deliver his address virtually.
Joining him are Robert Smith, American businessman and investor; Antonio Crassis, CEO of Valor; and Yan Yu, legal advisor to the International Monetary Fund.
The conference accompanying the meeting will review the latest topics related to global changes in the investment sector, such as energy transformation, artificial intelligence, supply chains, and governance, in addition to the social dimension in directing these investments.
The meeting is also an opportunity to meet with senior executives from various sovereign wealth funds to discuss the most prominent contemporary global issues, exchange views on various investment and economic topics, and discuss the challenges facing sovereign wealth funds.
It is worth noting that the International Forum of Sovereign Wealth Funds, in which the Oman Investment Authority obtained full membership in 2015, has a member wealth exceeding $8 trillion, which represents 80 percent of the assets of all sovereign wealth funds in the world.
