MUSCAT: Oman has begun its prominent participation in the World Travel Market 2024 (WTM) in London, an essential platform for showcasing the Sultanate of Oman’s tourism offerings to a global audience. Led by Salim al Mahrouqi, Minister of Heritage and Tourism, the Omani delegation includes 32 tourism entities and hotel operators, alongside strategic partners like Omran Group, Oman Air, Oman Airports, Oman Museum Through Time, and the National Museum. This diverse team represents Oman’s commitment to positioning itself as a unique travel destination that combines rich heritage, stunning natural landscapes, and distinctive cultural experiences.
Haitham al Ghassani, Director General of Tourism Promotion, emphasised that Oman’s WTM participation aligns with the ministry’s broader strategy of sustainable tourism development. He highlighted that the ministry aims to present Oman’s unique blend of natural and cultural tourism, appealing to a wide range of international travelers, and create visibility for new and upcoming tourism initiatives. Al Ghassani also noted that Oman’s pavilion at WTM serves as a platform for the ministry to connect with global tourism leaders, foster strategic partnerships, and attract investment to further enhance Oman’s tourism sector.
During the event, Oman’s pavilion will be a focal point for visitors and potential investors, showcasing a variety of tourism projects that underscore the ministry’s vision of balancing heritage preservation with modern tourism. The pavilion will also enable direct meetings between Omani tourism companies and their global counterparts, allowing for discussions on partnership opportunities aimed at increasing visitor numbers and investments in Oman’s tourism industry.
WTM 2024 will also feature a series of conferences and discussion panels that explore current and future trends in tourism, including digital innovations, sustainable tourism, and advanced travel experiences. This annual event, which attracts more than 4,000 exhibitors from over 185 countries, is expected to draw around 43,000 visitors, creating a dynamic space for Oman to strengthen its brand as a premier travel destination.
