The Oman Basketball Association's (OBA) Board of Directors held its regular meeting on Thursday at the headquarters of the Oman Olympic Committee and Sports Associations, presided over by OBA Chairman Eng Khalfan bin Saleh al Naabi. The meeting focused on discussing and approving the 2025 budget, aiming to enhance the level of sports activity and improve the performance of national teams.

Eng Khalfan al Naabi began the meeting by commending the efforts of the OBA's working committees and praising the fruitful cooperation with sports clubs, which has resulted in an increase in the number of clubs participating in the association tournaments and a diversification of sports activities. He pointed out that the association operates within a strategic plan based on priorities and available resources, emphasising the importance of leveraging marketing opportunities to enhance funding and support further growth in sports events and competitions. This would enable the OBA to continue advancing the sport across the Sultanate of Oman.

The meeting also discussed the allocation of financial resources according to the plans set for the coming year, with a variety of programmes approved, including local and international tournaments, as well as advanced training programmes aimed at qualifying technical and administrative staff and developing the skills of young players.

Additionally, the meeting addressed the recommendations of the technical committees, which aim to improve athletic performance and develop training methods. The relevant departments were directed to take necessary steps to implement these recommendations. Updates regarding the association’s website revamping and the preparation of a comprehensive marketing file that reflects the association’s identity and helps attract more partnerships and sponsors for the 2024-25 sports season were also discussed.

The meeting concluded with a review of outgoing and incoming correspondences, with necessary and appropriate decisions taken to support the association’s mission and efficiently implement the approved plans.
