Muscat: HH Sayyid Fahd bin Mahmoud al Said, Deputy Prime Minister for the Council of Ministers received Arsenio Domínguez, Secretary General of the International Maritime Organization (IMO) and his accompanying delegation.
HH Sayyid Fahd said that the Sultanate of Oman values the important role of the IMO in enhancing marine navigation and ensuring the safety of passengers and sea voyages in international seas and oceans.
HH Sayyid Fahd underscored Oman’s constant efforts to cooperate with the IMO in order to advance maritime transport, secure maritime routes and overcome related challenges.
On his turn, the Secretary General of the IMO stressed that the Sultanate of Oman undertakes a prestigious strategic position as a regional maritime centre that contributes to providing security and safety to international maritime routes in the region. He also underscored the importance of this visit in conducting talks with officials to support Oman’s nomination file for Category (C) membership in the executive council of the IMO.
The meeting was attended by Eng Said Hamoud al Maawali, Minister of Transport, Communications and Information Technology and Eng Khamis Mohammed al Shamakhi, Undersecretary of the Ministry of Transport, Communications and Information Technology.
