AL BURAIMI: The Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries, and Water Resources, in partnership with the Ministry of Housing and Urban Planning, announced six new agricultural investment opportunities in Al Buraimi Governorate. Launched through the “Tatweer” platform, these projects are part of Oman’s strategy to boost the agricultural sector and advance sustainable development across its governorates.

The initiatives target the cultivation of diverse crops, including leafy vegetables, garlic, onions, and potatoes, as well as seasonal fodder. Small and medium enterprises (SMEs) will have access to five of the six projects, empowering them to contribute to agricultural development while expanding their operations. Each project spans approximately 4.6 to 5 acres, with locations spread across the Wilayats of Mahdha and Al Buraimi.

Engineer Nasser bin Ali al Marshoudi, Director General of the Agricultural Wealth and Water Resources Directorate in Al Buraimi, highlighted that more than 40 investment opportunities have been offered through the Ministry’s development platform, with contracts collectively valued at RO 9.5 million as of September 2024. He noted a future expansion plan, set for 2025, which aims to increase agricultural investments and boost Al Buraimi’s role in Oman’s food production strategy.

This initiative aligns with the Ministry’s goal to enhance sustainable agricultural investment, create economic opportunities, and contribute to Oman’s food security goals by attracting further investments into the agricultural sector. — ONA
