Muscat Art is a comprehensive exhibition that showcases a diverse array of artworks and ideas from both Omani and international artists. This annual event fosters collaboration among local and global artistic talents, allowing visitors to experience the creative expressions of Omani artists from various regions of the country.
The third edition of Muscat Art 2024, organized by the Ministry of Culture, Sports, and Youth in partnership with the Oman Convention & Exhibition Center, was inaugurated on Monday and will run until October 31st.
The opening ceremony took place under the patronage of His Excellency Qais bin Mohammed Al Yousef, Minister of Commerce, Industry, and Investment Promotion, at the Oman Convention and Exhibition Center.
This year’s edition features over 200 artists from 18 countries, including Hungary, Iran, Yemen, Palestine, Lebanon, India, the United Kingdom, Sudan, Germany, and more. To emphasize the significance of Omani talents, a dedicated exhibition space has been allocated for both emerging artists like Hamid Al Aufi and distinguished figures such as Youssef Al Nuhwi. Additionally, this edition includes participation from art curators, including Alia Al Farsi and Hassan Meer, who have played a crucial role in organizing the event by connecting local and international talents to ensure broad representation.
His Excellency Said bin Sultan Al Busaidi, Undersecretary of the Ministry of Culture, Sports, and Youth for Culture, remarked, "This event is a vital component of the artistic programs that the Ministry prioritizes in Oman’s cultural calendar. It brings together artists from various countries to celebrate creativity and provides an exceptional experience for attendees. This aligns with our strategic cultural objectives for 2040, enhancing cultural content and fostering partnerships. We are proud to collaborate with the Oman Convention and Exhibition Center to promote cultural awareness and underline the significance of fine arts through workshops and community activities. We aspire for this event to continue flourishing as a platform for showcasing creativity in all its forms."
Eng. Said Al Shanfari, CEO of the Oman Convention and Exhibition Center, added, "Our center is a premier venue recognized for hosting significant events that contribute to national development. Through Muscat Art, we aim to create a cultural initiative that has a profound impact on our community—celebrating our culture and traditions while embracing the artistic trends shaping contemporary Oman. Each year, we see increasing regional interest, with new artists showcasing their works. We extend our heartfelt gratitude to the Ministry of Culture, Sports, and Youth, along with our sponsors, artists, and visitors, who collectively make this event possible."
The Muscat Art Exhibition aims to elevate cultural awareness, preserve the heritage of fine arts, and gain regional recognition. Its growing popularity has attracted more exhibitors and visitors annually, with a vision to establish it as a major art gathering in the region. Beyond being an art exhibition, it plays a vital role in Oman’s cultural landscape by celebrating the nation’s living talents.
This year's edition will also host lectures and workshops wherein experts will discuss various art-related topics. Attendees can look forward to sculpture workshops, live music, and entertainment throughout the three-day event.
