MUSCAT: The opening round of the 2024-2025 Oman Basketball League, held on Friday and Saturday at Al Amal Sports Club, saw dominant performances by Seeb and Ahli Sidab against Salalah Club.
Seeb secured a sweeping victory with a score of 127-35, while Ahli Sidab defeated the same team 81-28.
In the match between Seeb and Salalah, Seeb displayed clear dominance, achieving a massive 127-35 win. The team excelled from the start, taking advantage of scoring opportunities through standout players like Ahmed al Maamari, Rashid al Zuhaibi, Aslam al Jami, Abdulrahman al Shoaibi and Marwan al Hadidi.
Seeb started the game strong, opening with six points by Marwan al Hadidi, professional player Aslam al Jami and Waqas al Hinai. Salalah’s Faisal Abdul Nabi responded with two points, but Seeb continued its aggressive offense, adding four more points through Moawiya al Harthi and Rashid al Zuhaibi, ending the first quarter with a 31-10 lead.
Seeb maintained control in the second quarter, scoring seven points in the first two minutes via Aslam al Jami, Ahmed al Maamari and Hassan al Faraji. Salalah attempted to close the gap with a three-pointer by Bashar Bait Farid, but Seeb quickly responded with six more points through Ahmed al Maamari, increasing the lead to 44-12. Seeb wrapped up the quarter with 12 additional points, while Salalah managed six, leaving the first half at 56-18 in Seeb’s favour.
Seeb continued to dominate in the third quarter, scoring 31 points compared to Salalah's 11, extending their lead to 87-29.
The final quarter saw no major changes, as Seeb continued their offensive momentum, scoring 40 more points, while Salalah managed just six. The game concluded with a resounding 127-35 victory for Seeb.
In the second match, Ahli Sidab comfortably defeated Salalah 81-28, with several players standing out, including Suhail al Busaidi, Haitham Bani Araba, Hamir al Hassani, Sami al Ghilani and Ahmed al Jahwari.
Ahli Sidab opened the scoring with two points from Haitham Bani Araba under the basket, followed by two consecutive three-pointers from Hamir al Hassani. Haitham Bani Araba added another basket, while Salalah scored their first two points of the game. Ahli Sidab extended their lead with 18 more points, ending the first quarter 28-2.
In the second quarter, Ahli Sidab added four points through Ahmed al Hassani and Suhail al Busaidi, along with a free throw from Al Busaidi. Salalah responded with three points, including two from Al Hussein Bait Marjan and a free throw from Sufyan Bait Tawfiq. Ahli Sidab’s offense remained strong, adding 19 more points, while Salalah scored two through Saeed Aahir, ending the half with Ahli Sidab leading 52-7.
The third quarter featured an exchange of attacks, with Ahli Sidab adding 16 points while Salalah managed 10, bringing the score to 68-17 by the end of the quarter.
In the final quarter, Ahli Sidab added 13 more points, while Salalah scored 11. The game ended with Ahli Sidab securing an 81-28 victory.
