Commenting on the 49th FIH Statutory Congress in Muscat, FIH chief Dato Tayyab Ikram expressed his gratitude to the Sultanate of Oman for hosting a landmark Congress for the global hockey family. “It is a great honour for the International Hockey Federation (FIH) to hold its 49th Statutory Congress in the beautiful city of Muscat. This event is an important milestone as it brings together the global hockey community to engage in discussions that will shape the future of our sport,” he said.

“The Congress offers a unique platform to address the opportunities and new avenues for hockey globally. It is a time for reflection, planning, and collaboration, where we can share ideas, learn from each other and continue to grow hockey across all regions of the world. This year's Congress is particularly special as it coincides with the celebrations of the FIH Centennial—a tribute to 100 years of commitment to the sport and the legacy of those who have contributed to making FIH what it is today,” he added.

"We are especially grateful to the Sultanate of Oman, His Majesty Sultan Haitham bin Tarik and His Highness Sayyid Theyazin bin Haitham al Said for their exceptional hospitality and support in hosting this prestigious event,” he said.

“Oman has been a valuable partner in advancing the sport of hockey, exemplified by the warm welcome extended earlier this year for the inaugural FIH Hockey5s World Cup. The Sultanate of Oman's dedication to fostering sports, particularly hockey, aligns with our mission to expand the sport’s reach and deepen its roots in the region,” he concluded.
