NIZWA, OCT 21
Al Dakhiliyah Governorate has signed a series of investment contracts worth more than RO 7 million, aimed at promoting economic growth and enhancing services across several wilayats. The deals, which promise an investment return of over RO 2.7 million, were signed in the presence of Eng Said bin Hamoud al Maawali, Minister of Transport, Communications and Information Technology.
The contracts, signed by Shaikh Hilal bin Saeed al Hajri, Governor of Al Dakhiliyah, with various companies, mark a significant step in the government’s strategy to foster public-private partnerships, attract investments, and create job opportunities for citizens.
One of the key projects is the development of an integrated public transport station in the Wilayat of Nizwa. The station, strategically located in the commercial heart of Nizwa’s Farq area, will feature five main elements: a bus and taxi station, two business centres, a shopping mall, and an internal transport station. According to Al Hajri, this project serves as a model of public-private collaboration and is expected to enhance economic activity and improve the quality of life in the region.
Al Hajri emphasised the governorate’s commitment to strengthening its infrastructure to attract investors, supporting tourism, and improving services in cities. "We are focused on enhancing the visitor experience to boost tourism activity year-round while creating employment opportunities for young people," he said.
In addition to the transport station, the contracts include leasing prime locations along major roads and public spaces in Nizwa, Samayil, Al Hamra, Manah, Adam, Bidbid, Izki, Al Jabal Al Akhdar, and Bahla. These areas will host printed and electronic advertising platforms, which Al Hajri believes will contribute to local economic development by promoting tourism and business activities.
Al Hajri also noted that the governorate is keen to keep pace with global trends by developing strategies that align with Oman Vision 2040. "Our goal is to support sustainable economic development by leveraging our region’s geographical and cultural advantages," he said, adding that the governorate aims to create an attractive environment for innovation and investment.
Eng Badr bin Mohammed al Nadabi, CEO of Mwasalat, highlighted the importance of the agreement for public transport development. "We look forward to collaborating with the authorities in Al Dakhiliyah and the private sector to provide sustainable, efficient, and safe transport services," Al Nadabi said. He added that Mwasalat will manage the new transport station in Nizwa and operate intercity bus routes to enhance connectivity across the governorates, which will further support commercial and tourism growth in the region.
The station's central location in Nizwa is expected to attract more visitors and improve transportation between governorates, driving increased tourism and business activities across Al Dakhiliyah.
