With over 200 dates and honey manufacturers from the Sultanate of Oman, along with more than a hundred honey and dates dealers offering over 1,000 varieties of honey and dates from 27 countries, the Second International Dates and Honey Exhibition began under the auspices of Dr Saud bin Hamoud al Habsi, Minister of Agriculture, Fisheries and Water Resources, at the Oman Convention and Exhibition Centre on Sunday.

The five-day international expo is expected to pave the way for numerous investment opportunities in areas such as beekeeping, propagation, sorting, quality control, packaging, production and export. It also aims to explore significant investment potential.

The annual event seeks to support the dates and honey sectors in Oman by raising awareness among beekeepers, date producers, and traders to improve their products and introduce modern technologies in production and the supply chain.

According to Ministry sources, the expo also aims to maximise returns through transformation industries and value-added products, enhancing Omani products while facilitating the exchange of experiences between local and international exhibitors.

“On the sidelines, we have arranged several bilateral trade sessions between participants, traders, and those interested in this sector in a special corner for B2B deals, aiming to increase the volume of trade exchange between the Sultanate of Oman and the participating countries,” a spokesperson from the Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries and Water Resources said.

The spokesperson added that the exhibition will be open from 10 am to 10 pm, offering surprise gifts and prizes through daily draws for gold, jewellery, and electronic devices, as well as a grand draw for a Chery Tiggo 4 Pro car.

More than 35 countries are participating in the week-long exhibition, which ends on 26 October. It features 167 local companies and 71 international companies, including honey and date producers, packaging companies, and food processing companies specialising in dates and honey products.
