Shaleem and Hallaniyat Islands: The Cultural Forum, organised by the Cultural Club in collaboration with the Oman Oil Development Company in the Wilayat of Shaleem and the Hallaniyat Islands in Dhofar Governorate, concluded with key recommendations aimed at sustaining cultural, literary, and artistic trends throughout Oman’s governorates.

During its closing session in Shaleem and Jarz Al Halaniyat, the forum emphasised the continuation of cultural and literary initiatives in the coming years, extending beyond its traditional geographical boundaries. This vision involves a strategic partnership with civil society institutions and the private sector, aimed at bolstering cultural activities through support from relevant cultural organisations.

The forum highlighted the pivotal role of the Cultural Club in fostering culture and knowledge throughout Oman. It aims to create a dynamic interaction that focuses on sustainable cultural development, promoting innovation and creativity, and establishing an environment conducive to intellectual and institutional engagement.

Abdul Hakeem bin Mohammed Al Rashidi, Wali of Shaleem and the Hallaniyat Islands, presided over the closing ceremony, honoring participants and contributors to the forum's success. The event featured a theatrical performance titled 'Creativity Maker,' directed by Asaad Al Siyabi, which showcased the national identity and unique cultural elements of the Wilayat of Shaleem and the Hallaniyat Islands, accompanied by a visual presentation of the forum's achievements.

The forum included several enriching seminars, such as a dialogue session titled 'Tales from Memory... Oral Folk Heritage from the Wilayat of Shaleem and the Hallaniyat Islands.' Moderated by researcher and writer Badr bin Salem Al Abri, and featuring insights from Sheikh Ahmed bin Obaid Al Mahri and Hamad bin Al Nuaimi Al Batahri, the session delved into the Wilayat's historical connection with the sea, fishing, and the myths surrounding frankincense, the desert, and nature. It explored how these elements are preserved in the community’s oral traditions, stories, songs, and artifacts, forming a rich source of popular memory. - ONA
