MUSCAT: The Fifth Duqm Forum, held today (Sunday) at the Oman Convention and Exhibition Centre, is centering discussions around investment opportunities within the blue economy. The event focuses on sectors such as food security, logistics, tourism, renewable energy, and technology, all of which are vital for Oman’s future development. Organised by the Oman Chamber of Commerce and Industry (OCCI) in Al Wusta Governorate in partnership with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Public Authority for Special Economic Zones and Free Zones, the forum is expected to bolster the country’s economic prospects.

His Highness Sayyid Harib bin Thuwaini al Said, Assistant Secretary-General of the Council of Ministers for Conferences, is the event’s chief sponsor.

Dr. Salem bin Salim al Junaibi, Chairman of OCCI Al Wusta Branch, stressed that the forum aligns with the Oman Vision 2040 by promoting investment and economic growth, particularly in Al Wusta Governorate. He emphasized that the blue economy—defined as the sustainable use of oceans and water resources for economic gain—holds immense potential for Oman’s future. The forum highlights key sectors such as ports, shipping, marine activities, fisheries, and renewable energy like wave and wind energy, as well as green hydrogen projects.

With experts and officials from both Oman and abroad, the forum provides a platform for discussions that could foster new partnerships and entrepreneurial ventures, particularly in the promising Duqm area. — ONA
