Muscat: Al Bashayer secured an important victory over Ahli Sidab by 58-42, advancing to the final of the 2024 Credit Oman Basketball Cup, where they will face Seeb, who in turn defeated Nizwa 78-46 in the semifinals held at the secondary hall of the Sultan Qaboos Sports Complex in Bausher on Sunday.
In the first match, Al Bashayer dominated all four quarters. The game saw a balanced performance from both teams, with standout contributions from Osama al Riyami, Saeed al Saadi and Mahmoud al Sooli in attack for Al Bashayer, while Ahli Sidab was led by Haitham Bani Orabah and Ahmed al Jahwari.
In the first quarter, Al Bashayer started strong, opening the scoring with a two-point shot from Osama al Riyami, followed by another basket from Saeed al Saadi. Ahli Sidab responded with a three-pointer by Adel al Battashi. However, Al Bashayer managed to widen the gap, finishing the first quarter ahead at 13-6. In the second quarter, both teams scored 13 points, leaving the first half with Al Bashayer leading 26-19.
In the third quarter, Al Bashayer extended their lead, adding 13 points compared to Ahli Sidab’s 7. The fourth quarter saw Ahli Sidab attempting to close the gap, but Al Bashayer maintained their lead, winning the match 58-42.
The match was officiated by international referee Issam al Siyabi as the first referee, Ali al Salmani as the second, and international referee Wafa al Samri as the third. The table officials were Jumaa al Hinai, Mousa al Siyabi and Fatima al Harthy.
In the second match, Seeb outplayed Nizwa 78-46, thanks to the outstanding performances of Rashid al Zuheibi, Hassan al Falahi, and Noah al Amri in attack. On Nizwa’s side, players like Musab al Wahaibi, Mohammed al Wahaibi and Saif al Toubi stood out.
The match began evenly, with Seeb applying offensive pressure. Rashid al Zuheibi opened the scoring with a two-point shot, and Nizwa equalised through Musab al Wahaibi. The teams exchanged attacks, both scoring 9 points, ending the first quarter tied at 11-11.
In the second quarter, Seeb widened the gap to 26-11. Nizwa’s Mohammed al Wahaibi managed to score two points, but Seeb quickly responded through Hassan al Faraji. Seeb led the first half 35-24.
In the third quarter, Seeb maintained their offensive superiority. Rashid al Zuheibi scored three points early on, followed by an additional 6 points, bringing the score to 44-24. Seeb continued scoring, with Mazen al Hididi getting two points from a free throw, while Moawiya al Harthy netted a three-pointer. The third quarter ended with Seeb leading 65-30.
In the fourth quarter, Seeb continued their offensive control, adding more points to reach 68-32. They maintained their lead to finish on 78-46.
The match was officiated by international referee Ahmed al Khsaibi as the first referee, Taha al Amri as the second and Mazen al Hilali as the third. The table officials were Al Mahdi al Alawi, Yaqub al Nadabi and Majid al Akhzami.
