Muscat: The Ministry of Labour has urged employers and business owners to follow certain guidelines during heavy rains and floods, which include:
1. Stay updated with official weather alerts and ensure employees are informed.
2. Secure lightweight equipment in outdoor areas.
3. Ensure the security of lifting equipment and cranes. 4. Advise employees to remain indoors and avoid low-lying areas during adverse weather. 5. Consider postponing non-essential driving and work-related trips.
6. Pause all excavation work until weather conditions improve.
7. Temporarily halt operations in outdoor areas.
8. Ensure proper storage and safety measures for chemicals and hazardous materials.
9. Avoid elevated areas and scaffolding during adverse weather.
10. Warn employees against risky behavior, such as crossing wadis. Share emergency contact numbers with employees in case of any emergency.
The National Committee for Emergency Management has decided to suspend work or study in the public and private sectors and switch to remote work on Tuesday, October 15.
