Oman’s delegation is headed by Khalid bin Hilal al Maawali, Chairman of Majlis Ash’shura. The meetings will discuss the role of parliaments in dealing with various regional and international issues and taking relevant decisions.

Oman’s delegation will participate in many meetings, notably with the Standing Committee for Sustainable Development, the Standing Committee for Democracy and Human Rights, the Association of Secretaries-General of National Parliaments, the Standing Committee for International Peace and Security, the Standing Committee on United Nations Affairs, the Forum of Women Parliamentarians, and the Forum of Young Parliamentarians of the Inter-Parliamentary Union.

On the sidelines of the IPU meetings, Al Maawali headed Oman’s delegation taking part in the Arab Group’s coordination meeting, which discussed preparations for the IPU 37th Emergency Conference scheduled to be held on October 15. The meeting will discuss the Israeli occupation forces’ aggression on the State of Palestine and the Lebanese Republic. It will look into solutions to stop the brutal aggression.

The Arab Group at the IPU chose al Maawali as head of the emergency panel that will deal with emergency issues submitted to the IPU for elaboration by the Algerian People's National Assembly and the Palestinian National Council. — ONA
