Al JABAL Al AKHDHAR: Represented by the Sultan of Oman's Parachute Regiment, the Royal Army of Oman (RAO) on Thursday carried out a practical demonstration drill of the Joint Omani-Iranian Military Exercise code-named “Mountain Falcons”.

With support from the Royal Air Force of Oman (Rafo), the drill was conducted under the auspices of Maj Gen Matar bin Salim al Balushi, Commander of the Royal Army of Oman, in the presence of Brigadier-General Kiumars Heidari, Commander of the Islamic Republic of Iran's Army Ground Forces.

The drill took place in RAO combat training zone in areas mountainous of the Wilayat of Al Jabal Al Akhdhar. It began with a briefing, followed by the practical demonstration during which the participating forces demonstrated a high level of performance.

The stages of the demo reflected the participating units’ ability to operate in full harmony and implement the drawn-up plans and training objectives.

Military exercises form part of SAF annual training plans and programmes, which are often carried out jointly with armies of Arab and friendly countries.

The practical demonstration drill was attended by senior officers of the Sultan's Armed Forces, senior officers of the Iranian Ground Forces, the Military Attaché at the Embassy of the Islamic Republic of Iran in Muscat and RAO personnel.

Before the drill Maj Gen Al Balushi received Brigadier Heydari and his accompanying delegation.

The meeting was held at the combat training unit in Al Jabal Al Akhdhar (the Green Mountain). It took place within the framework of attending the practical demonstration of the Omani-Iranian joint military exercise.

During the meeting, the two sides reviewed several military matters of mutual interest.

The meeting was attended by several senior RAO officers, senior officers of Iran’s ground forces and the Military Attaché of the Iranian Embassy in Muscat. — ONA
