MUSCAT: The eagerly anticipated 8th Oman Fire, Security and Safety Exhibition 2024, organised by Muscat Expo Company, commenced yesterday at the Oman Convention and Exhibition Centre, spanning over two days.
The event was inaugurated by Shaikh Dr Ali bin Masoud al Sunaidy, Chairman of the Public Authority for Special Economic Zones and Free Zones (OPAZ). He emphasised the exhibition’s critical focus on various aspects of security and safety for both facilities and individuals.
Notably, this year features a diverse array of participating companies from numerous countries and highlights the involvement of Omani youth who own and manage businesses in this sector.
A significant presence of volunteer teams and young volunteers also underscores the event’s community engagement.
Al Sunaidy underscored the necessity of training and qualifying human resources to adeptly utilise modern technologies in security and safety. He highlighted the Royal Oman Police and the Ministry of Labour’s roles in regulating standards and specifications for devices within facilities.
He also noted the paramount importance of security and safety in the Public Authority for Economic Zones and Free Zones.
A comprehensive plan is currently being implemented in the Sohar Free Zone and other areas, integrating security and safety requirements from project initiation through to construction, renovation and operation.
Many young individuals in industrial zones receive training at private centres or those affiliated with the Royal Oman Police and Oman Oil Development Company.
This year’s exhibition features over 80 local and international companies from more than 20 countries.
They are showcasing cutting-edge solutions, technologies, and cost-effective products catering to sectors such as government, private enterprises, aviation, construction, transportation, manufacturing, oil and gas and public utilities.
