The two-day cultural workshop, part of the ‘Communication and Empowerment’ series for libraries, civil cultural centres, and cultural initiatives in Muscat Governorate, successfully concluded at the Intercity Hotel, Al Khuwair.

Organised by the Ministry of Culture, Sports, and Youth, the event saw active participation from representatives of various cultural institutions, aiming to develop and manage cultural events in line with 'Oman Vision 2040.'

Huda Al Riyami, Director of the Department of Cultural Activities, emphasised the Ministry's commitment to fostering libraries and civil cultural centres through training, capacity-building, and facilitating exchanges.

“This meeting reflects our cultural strategy, designed to activate the role of civil institutions and promote community partnerships to create an environment conducive to cultural innovation across Oman’s governorates,” she noted. The initiative ties into Oman Vision 2040's goal of enhancing identity, citizenship, and social cohesion through an integrated community partnership system.

Yousef Saada, a specialist in community initiatives, lauded the enthusiasm of Omani youth for cultural development and sustainability, remarking that such initiatives will significantly contribute to shaping Oman's cultural identity.

Other key speakers included Tharya bint Hamad Al Hatali, Head of Cultural Development, who highlighted the importance of attracting audiences to non-profit cultural libraries and centers. Additionally, participants such as Taymoura bint Rashid Al Abri, an Indexing and Archives Investigation Specialist, and Saeed Al Mahrazi, Head of Civil Cultural Centers, stressed the importance of collaboration and idea-sharing in strengthening the country’s cultural framework.

The Ministry currently supports 45 cultural initiatives, 61 libraries, and 8 cultural centres, fostering a robust platform for cultural exchange and growth in the Sultanate.
