Muscat: In a step to improve the business environment, the Small and Medium Enterprises (SME) Committee of the Oman Chamber of Commerce and Industry (OCCI) will team up with various government bodies to support the Chamber’s strategic direction of empowering SMEs to grow and align with Oman Vision 2040.

Chaired by Sheikh Rashid bin Amer al Musalhi, Head of the Committee, the members reviewed the progress of key initiatives introduced throughout the year.

“The working team aimed at improving the business environment will include the OCCI, Ministry of Labour, Ministry of Commerce, Industry and Investment Promotion, and the Public Authority for SMEs”, Sheikh Rashid stated.

Meanwhile, the discussions centered on the results of the committee’s initiatives to foster the development and sustainability of SMEs, while creating meaningful employment opportunities for job seekers.

The committee also explored ways to support jobless translators and bolster the food security initiative. They emphasised strategies for ensuring the success of these projects, which are crucial to Oman's ongoing efforts in these sectors.

According to the members, regulating manpower recruitment offices remains a priority, which requires collective efforts by the Chamber, the Ministry of Labour, Royal Oman Police, the Foreign Ministry, and other key stakeholders to ensure fair practices, safeguard rights, and maintain competitiveness within the sector.
