Muscat: The Telecommunications Regulatory Authority (TRA) has launched a new system for licenses and permits on its website to simplify and facilitate procedures.
The system targets licensees and those authorized to provide telecommunications services, new investors looking for opportunities in the telecommunications sector, in addition to companies operating in implementing services in this sector, small and medium enterprises, and independent individuals wishing to provide these services.
TRA said the system was created in cooperation with the Ministry of Commerce, Industry and Investment Promotion (MOCIIP), Riyada, the Ministry of Labour, and the Oman Chamber of Commerce and Industry (OCCI) as seven services related to the regulatory obligations required of licensees under licenses were automated, including those related to important services of submitting permit applications.
The system will contribute to reducing the number of documents required to obtain licenses in three categories.
For accepting and issuing license applications in the first category, the automation is nearly 77 percent, in the second category license, the number of documents has been reduced from 17 to 4, while in the third category, the automation rate is around 76 percent.
As for applications related to obtaining a permit to establish or operate private communications networks intended for personal use that are not connected to the public network, they were fully automated after requiring eight documents.
As for the application for a permit to exploit and access inactive infrastructure, the number of documents was reduced to 100 percent.
The system aims to simplify and speed up the resolution of applications by reducing the procedures related to the service, including the documents, in addition to providing clear information to the applicants.
