The Embassy of the United Arab Emirates (UAE) in Muscat hosted a seminar focusing collaboration boost between the United Arab Emirates and Oman in the field of technology, specifically in policing and cybersecurity.


The event brought together key stakeholders from both nations to explore the latest technological developments in Dubai Police projects, with an aim to strengthen bilateral relations and foster mutual growth in technological innovation.


In his opening remarks, Dr Ali al Shamili, Deputy Ambassador of the United Arab Emirates, expressed the embassy’s appreciation for the Sultanate of Oman's Foreign Ministry. He acknowledged their efforts in deepening the partnership between the two countries, particularly in areas such as scientific and security advancements.


Dr Al Shamili emphasised the importance of utilising cutting-edge technology to ensure the safety and security of citizens and residents, underscoring the shared commitment of both nations to pursue innovative solutions in these fields.


The seminar served as a platform for knowledge exchange, particularly in the domain of cybersecurity, while highlighting opportunities for collaboration in leveraging new technologies.


Attendees discussed the joint efforts of Oman and the UAE to enhance security through artificial intelligence (AI), data analysis, and other advanced technologies. It also underscored the shared goal of aligning their strategies with future technological advancements.


Among the key speakers, Ahmed bin Abdullah al Nahdi, Director of the Technology Office at the Department of International Trade, Knowledge Economy, and Technology, highlighted the UAE's achievements in deploying technology for public service.


He pointed out the potential for similar applications within the GCC system, enhancing citizen services and fostering regional cooperation.


Dubai Police’s initiatives, including the Smart Police Station (SPS) and the Efaad platform, were major topics of discussion.


The SPS, an innovative project offering self-service police stations without human intervention, provides a wide range of services, from filing criminal reports to issuing permits.


These smart stations are aligned with the UAE’s vision for a technologically advanced service system, utilising AI and robotics to reduce reliance on traditional service centres.


Similarly, the Efaad platform aims to integrate youth into the national strategy through smart services, supporting their capabilities in technology-driven projects.


The event concluded with an interactive discussion that explored challenges faced by the region, the governance of new technologies, and the significance of continuous knowledge sharing to address these challenges.
