Oman-Saudi trade surpasses RO 1 billion in H1 2024

MUSCAT: Trade between Oman and Saudi Arabia reached over RO 1.014 billion by the end of June 2024, according to the National Centre for Statistics and Information. Mineral products topped Oman's exports to Saudi Arabia, valued at RO 160.547 million, followed by metals (RO 95.036 million), machinery and electrical equipment (RO 33.592 million), and live animals (RO 23.816 million).


On the import side, mineral products led with RO 284.941 million, followed by chemical industry products (RO 137.967 million), and food, beverages, and tobacco products (RO 38.882 million). Re-export items were dominated by vehicles and transport equipment (RO 11.279 million).


The Rub' al-Khali port played a key role, with imports reaching RO 159.678 million by June 2024, up from RO 118.724 million a year earlier. Direct Saudi investments in Oman rose to RO 121.1 million, a 50.2% increase since 2021, while Omani investments in Saudi Arabia stood at RO 129.1 million by the end of 2022.


Saudi Arabia remains a significant tourism partner, with 87,710 Saudi visitors to Oman by August 2024. The number of Saudis residing in Oman was 1,517 by June 2024, including 341 Saudi students in Omani government schools and 103 in higher education institutions. — ONA
