Muscat: The Ministry of Culture, Sports and Youth is organising a symposium titled "Investment Opportunities in the Omani Encyclopaedia for Youth."
The two-day symposium, which kicked off today, focuses on highlighting the encyclopaedia’s importance in instilling national and cultural values in Omani children and grooming their identity. It identifies the most important opportunities to invest in the encyclopaedia cognitively, technically and economically.
The opening ceremony was held under the auspices of Mohammed bin Said al Bulushi, Under-Secretary of the Ministry of Information. It was attended by Sayyid Said bin Sultan al Busaidy, Under-Secretary of the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Youth for Culture.
The symposium discussed a paper titled “The role communication means in boosting awareness about local culture, national values and knowledge treasures in the Omani Encyclopaedia for Youth.”
An exhibition of the Omani Encyclopaedia for Youth was opened on the sidelines of the symposium. It showcased methods of selecting text titles, summarising and paraphrasing them, providing textual data and the stages of linguistic review, design and final drafts. It also highlighted means of converting texts into images, maps, and graphs to attract the target segment.
