MUSCAT: Oman's national junior golf teams will take part at the Ladies and Youth Pan Arab Championships which will be held from Monday and run until September 28 at The Residences Golf Course in Gammarth city, Tunisia. The 23rd edition of the Arabian meet will feature different categories including Boys U 18 and U 16 years old while the ladies event which is in the 15th edition featured U 16 category.


Oman’s squad in the championship will be represent by different promising golfers including Mahir Nikkel Smit in the U 18 youth category, Moheeb al Kathiri, Ahmed al Touqi and Brinch Gopal in the U 16 juniors category and Yousuf al Rumhi in the U 13 category.


Oman’s delegation is led by Ahmed Faisal al Jahdhami, Secretary General of Oman Golf Association (OGA) and National Teams Manager and will be accompanied by Nikkel Smit, board member of OGA who is serving as the delegation's administrator and the national team head coach, Richard Muschelmor from South Africa.

The domestic junior golfers commenced their on-course preparations and training at Residences Golf Course in Gammarth city. It is rated as one of the top golf course in Tunisia. The course is designed with 18-hole championship course. Oman’s golfers will vie among other 121 golfers representing 11 countries including Oman, Qatar, Jordan, Saudi Arabia, Morocco, Egypt, Lebanon, Libya, UAE, Iraq, and the hosts Tunisia.


Oman’s golfers will aim to showcase their best skills while gaining valuable experience by competing with top Arab golfers. This championship is a significant part of the Oman Golf Association's strategy to develop its junior teams. On the other hand, the Arab Golf Federation organises this event to enhance the players' experience and promote the growth of golf in the Arab world with plans to increase the number of Arab tournaments across all categories in the future.
