Rabat: The training course for Omani lawyers participating in the legal trip concluded in the Moroccan capital, Rabat.
The course, titled "Modern National and International Trends in Commercial Arbitration and Arbitration in Investment Disputes and the Role of National Judiciary in These Areas," featured contributions from prominent judges and lecturers from Moroccan universities.
The course included six lectures covering topics such as procedural rules for issuing arbitration awards, the evolution of international arbitration rules, ensuring justice and maintaining the independence of arbitration, and the enforcement of arbitral awards.
On the sidelines of the event, Dr Hamad bin Hamdan al Rubaie, Chairman of the Omani Lawyers Association, met with the Gabonese Minister of Justice to discuss the importance of commercial arbitration, its various aspects, and how Oman could benefit from Morocco's experience in this field, particularly in the legal role of economic development.
Several participants reflected on the benefits of the trip. Lawyer Dr Abdullah bin Mubarak al Abri emphasized that these legal trips organized by the Omani Lawyers Association offer a unique opportunity to learn from other countries' experiences in legal and judicial institutions, and to stay updated on the latest legal developments in response to global changes.
He noted that such activities also provide a platform for exchanging ideas and engaging in serious discussions to address challenges facing Omani law firms and lawyers.
Lawyer Hilal bin Saif al Maamari expressed his satisfaction with attending the workshop on commercial arbitration in Rabat, which he said broadened his perspectives and deepened his understanding of the importance of arbitration, especially for foreign investors.
Lawyer Dr Nasser bin Masoud al Shamli highlighted that participation in this workshop on commercial arbitration and investment disputes was part of the broader goal of fostering cooperation and exchanging experiences with Moroccan counterparts.
He noted that the effective procedures of arbitration, conducted outside the regular judiciary system, have become increasingly necessary due to economic growth and the corresponding rise in disputes.
Arbitration has thus become an essential tool for resolving conflicts, valued for its speed, flexibility, and confidentiality.
