New York: The Digital Cooperation Organization (DCO), a multilateral body dedicated to fostering global digital prosperity, has launched its groundbreaking Digital Economy Navigator (DEN), a tool designed to assess and enhance the digital economy maturity of countries worldwide. Unveiled at the SDG Digital 2024 event during the 79th Session of the United Nations General Assembly in New York, the DEN seeks to bridge the digital economy gap by offering a comprehensive framework to benchmark progress and identify growth opportunities.

The Digital Economy Navigator measures the digital maturity of 50 countries, including DCO Member States, using officially disseminated statistics, secondary data, and proprietary data from a large-scale DCO survey. The tool enables policymakers, stakeholders, and business leaders to harmonize their efforts, aiming for sustainability, accessibility, and shared prosperity across borders through an evidence-based approach.

DCO Secretary-General Deemah AlYahya emphasized the significance of the DEN, stating, "The Digital Economy Navigator aims to enhance accessibility, sustainability, and economic prosperity, ensuring that countries are not just keeping pace but leading in the digital era." She further highlighted the importance of the DEN in equipping nations with the data and insights needed to navigate the evolving digital landscape, aligning with the DCO's mission to support evidence-based policymaking and drive impactful outcomes.

The DEN evaluates countries' digital economies through three core dimensions: Digital Enablers, Digital Business, and Digital Society. These dimensions are further broken down into 10 pillars, covering 102 indicators derived from respected secondary data sources and a proprietary survey of over 27,000 participants across the 50 nations. The framework provides a unified platform for tracking progress and identifying key areas for digital transformation.

The launch of the DEN is a pivotal moment in advancing global cooperation on digital economy policies, fostering innovation, creating jobs, and accelerating GDP growth. By addressing gaps in digital maturity, the Navigator is set to play a vital role in empowering nations to achieve higher levels of prosperity, inclusion, and sustainability in the digital age.
