Muscat: The Oman Football Association (OFA) has officially terminated the contract of the national team's Czech coach Jaroslav Šilhavý, announcing on Thursday that the decision was made by mutual consent.

In an online statement, the OFA expressed gratitude to Celavy for his contributions, saying, “We wish our national team’s current coach all the best in his upcoming coaching journey.”

The announcement follows the Red Warriors' recent losses in two crucial matches during the AFC Asian Qualifiers for the FIFA World Cup 2026.

Meanwhile, the OFA will hold a press conference on Thursday to introduce the national team’s new coach and unveil the upcoming coaching plans for the national team.

Only in February this year, The Oman Football Association (OFA) announced the appointment of Šilhavý as the head coach of the Oman national football team.

Šilhavý, aged 62, took over from Croatian Branko Ivankovic, who was dismissed by the OFA following the team’s underwhelming performance at the recent AFC Asian Cup in Qatar.

The contract was signed to lead the technical staff of the national team until 2026.

The Federation’s Board of Directors entrusted Sjelhavy with the crucial task of leading the national team through the upcoming challenges, including the Asian double qualifiers for the 2026 World Cup finals and the 2027 Asian Cup.
