Muscat: The Sultanate of Oman expressed on Thursday its support for the United Nations General Assembly's adoption of a draft resolution addressing the advisory opinion issued by the International Court of Justice (ICJ) on the legal consequences of Israeli policies and practices in the occupied Palestinian territories, including East Jerusalem.
In a statement, Oman affirmed that the resolution is a significant step toward upholding the inalienable rights of the Palestinian people, especially their right to self-determination and the establishment of an independent state based on the 1967 borders, with East Jerusalem as its capital.
According to the statement, the Sultanate of Oman gave importance to adherence to the international community's commitment to international law and relevant UN resolutions, which are essential for ending the Israeli occupation and achieving a just and comprehensive peace in the Middle East.
