MUSCAT: On a football-filled evening, Omani teams are gearing up for the fifth round of the Omantel League, with great anticipation from fans. The clubs aim to improve their standings or maintain their winning momentum as the competition approaches a critical stage.


In the opening match of the fifth round, Sohar will host Sur on their home ground on Thursday evening. Sohar is looking to capitalise on the home advantage and the support of their fans to return to winning ways after a draw in the previous round. Sohar currently sit in sixth place with four points and hopes to improve their position. On the other hand, Sur are searching for their first win of the league, as they are at the bottom of the standings with no points after three matches.


In the second match, Seeb Sports Stadium will witness a strong clash between Oman Club and the visiting Al Shabab. Oman Club are keen to continue chasing the league leaders Seeb and Al Nahdha, as they occupy third place with 10 points, aiming to get closer to the top. In contrast, Al Shabab seek their first win of the season, having collected only one point out of a possible 12 in the first four rounds.

In the same round, three more matches will be played on Friday evening. Al Nasr will welcome Saham at Al Saada Sports Complex in Salalah. Al Nasr, currently in fourth place, aim to continue their positive results and secure another win, while Saham enter the match after their recent derby win and their first three points, boosting their desire to improve their standing.


Meanwhile, at Al Rustaq Sports Complex, Al Rustaq will host Ibri. Both teams share the same points, with three each, and enter the match to secure a win to move up to sixth place.


In another clash, Al Khabourah will visit defending champions Seeb at the Seeb Sports Stadium. Seeb, sitting at the top of the table with 12 points, aim to maintain their winning streak, while Al Khabourah, currently in fifth with six points, are looking to recover after their previous loss.


The fifth-round matches will conclude on Saturday evening with an exciting encounter between Bahla and Al Nahdha at Al Buraimi Sports Complex. Al Nahdha come into the match on the back of consecutive victories, holding second place, tied with Seeb on 12 points but trailing by goal difference. Meanwhile, newly promoted Bahla are eager to secure their first win in the league after a strong performance in their previous match against Seeb in round four.
