MUSCAT: Al Dhahirah Governorate has signed a partnership agreement with the Oman Towers Company to design and construct ornamental telecom towers. The agreement was signed by Najeeb Ali al Rawas, Governor of Al Dhahirah, and Eng Majid al Kharoosi, Managing Director of Oman Towers.
The agreement will help leverage the infrastructure components of the telecom towers that the company will establish using innovative and modern methods. These methods align with the comprehensive development strategy of Al Dhahirah Governorate, contributing to the goals of the governorate’s development plans and enhancing its economic and social aspects.
These towers will serve as prominent landmarks at the sites where they will be built. The first ornamental tower will be constructed in the Wilayat of Ibri, standing at a height of 40 metres. The tower will feature various symbols and images, with a digital screen measuring 17 metres in height and 3 metres in width for digital advertising, along with a digital clock at the center. Different logos will also be displayed, and the location of this tower has been chosen to meet the technical specifications of the Oman Towers Company.
Speaking to the Observer, Majid al Kharoosi, Managing Director of Oman Tower Company, said, "This agreement was signed between Al Dhahirah Governorate and Oman Towers Company to design and implement decorative or aesthetically pleasing communication towers that harmonize with the surrounding environment and reduce visual pollution, while also becoming prominent landmarks in the Wilayat of Ibri. The signing of this agreement is a result of cooperation with the Al Dhahirah Governorate Office, which played a key role in advancing such agreements. The agreement will include the construction of several decorative towers across the Wilayats of Al Dhahirah Governorate, with the first tower set to be completed in the coming months, followed by additional towers in other locations agreed upon by Al Dhahirah Governorate, Oman Towers, and the relevant authorities involved in the construction of communication towers."
He added, "It is worth noting that Oman Towers was established in 2018 with the mission of building, managing, maintaining, and leasing communication towers to telecommunications service providers in the Sultanate. Since its inception, the company has focused on innovation and efforts to reduce visual pollution caused by traditional communication towers, particularly in population centers, commercial and tourist areas, and smart cities—key locations where mobile communication services are in high demand. This agreement aligns with the company’s ongoing commitment to modernizing communication towers and introducing a qualitative leap in terms of their design and the advanced technologies they incorporate."
