Muscat: Al Bashayer Club will participate in the 2024 Al Wahda International Friendly Basketball Tournament, organised by the UAE Basketball Federation in Abu Dhabi. This tournament will be held from September 19 to 25 at the Mubadala Arena and serves as an important preparatory stage for the team ahead of this season's Omani League.
The tournament features strong teams from various Arab countries, with Al Bashayer competing alongside Al Wahda (UAE), Al Hikma (Lebanon), Kuwait Club (Kuwait), Al Ittihad Al Sakandari (Egypt), Al Fath Rabat (Morocco), Al Karkh (Iraq), and the UAE national team.
The teams are divided into two groups, each consisting of four teams. In the first round, each team will play three matches, with the top two teams from each group advancing to the semifinals. The winners of the semifinal matches will compete for the championship title, while the remaining teams will play to determine positions from fourth to eighth.
Al Bashayer are placed in Group A, alongside Al Wahda (UAE), Al Fath Rabat (Morocco), and Al Hikma (Lebanon). Group B includes Kuwait Club (Kuwait), Al Ittihad Al Sakandari (Egypt), Al Karkh (Iraq), and the UAE national team.
The tournament kicks off on September 19, with Al Bashayer playing their first match against Al Hikma. On the same day, Al Karkh will face Kuwait, and Al Ittihad Al Sakandari will play against the UAE national team.
Al Bashayer's second match will be on September 21 against Al Wahda, followed by their third match on September 22 against Al Fath Rabat.
The semifinals will take place on September 24, where the first team from Group A will face the second from Group B, and the first from Group B will face the second from Group A. The tournament will conclude on September 25 with a third-place match, followed by the final match to determine the champion.
