Muscat: Seeb defeated Bahla 2-1 to keep their lead on top of Omantel League after the fourth round match at the Ibri Sports Complex Stadium on Sunday.
Bahla took the lead through their defender Loki Vikme in the 27th minute but Seeb quickly responded by scoring the equaliser through Ali al Busaidy in the 33rd minute, before Abdulaziz al Muqbali added the second goal in the 50th minute, securing Seeb's victory and raising their score to 12 points, thus maintaining their lead in the league standings.
On the other hand, Bahla remained without points, as this was their first match since the start of the season after being promoted as a replacement for the Dhofar team in the Omantel League.
Al Nahdha's Winning Streak Continues
Al Nahdha achieved a valuable 1-0 victory over their hosts Sur at the Sur Sports Complex.
The only goal of the match came through Thani al Rashidi in the 49th minute, as Al Rashidi took advantage of an accurate pass from Osama via a direct free kick to put the ball into Sur's net with a perfect header. Despite the efforts made by Sur club players to return to the match, Al Nahdha managed to maintain their lead thanks to their organised defence and their goalkeeper who stopped several dangerous attempts.
With this victory, Al Nahdha raised their score to 12 points, achieving a full score from 4 matches, which strengthens their position at the top of the standings with Seeb and confirms their strong start to this season.
For their part, Sur continue to suffer, as they remained without points after suffering a third consecutive defeat.
This loss is a major blow to Sur's ambitions this season, as they will have to work hard in the upcoming rounds to make up for the lost points and improve their position in the league table.
Al Shabab hold Sohar
Al Shabab and Sohar tied 2-2 at the Al Rustaq Sports Complex on Sunday.
The first half was average, and both teams tried to score an early goal. The most dangerous opportunity fell to Sohar in the 12th minute when Saud al Muqbali wasted a golden opportunity with a shot outside the goal. The attempts continued, and Sohar almost took the lead in the 15th minute, but their attackers did not take advantage of the opportunity.
Al Shabab responded through Issam al Subhi, who shot a powerful ball that went over the crossbar in the 18th minute. In the 30th minute, Khalid al Buraiki scored the lead goal for Al Shabab with a header from a set piece. However, Sohar equalised in the 37th minute through Mohsen Jawhar, and the first half ended in a 1-1 draw.
In the second half, the level of enthusiasm increased between the two teams as each sought to achieve victory and collect points. Al Shabab pressed intensively on Sohar’s goal from the right and left sides. Despite the attempts of both teams, play was confined to the middle of the field for periods without any real danger.
In the 65th minute, Abdullah al Shabli managed to score the first goal for Sohar with a powerful shot to the right of Al Shabab goalkeeper, but Sohar's joy did not last long, as Issam al Subhi managed to score the equaliser for Al Shabab with a header just one minute later from a perfect cross. Both teams continued to search for the winning goal without retreating, but to no avail, as the match ended in a 2-2 draw.
With this draw, Al Shabab earned their first point of the season and moved up to 10th place, while Sohar moved to four points in sixth place.
